I am wondering if a vacuum sealer like the Food Saver or the Rival Seal-a-Meal can be used to seal regular plastic bags. I don’t necessarily need the air to be vacuumed out but I want to be able to reseal stuff like pepperoni or hotdogs or stuff from the freezer like chicken fingers etc (in their original packaging).
Has anyone tried this? I would not imagine it would not damage the sealer (as long as the plastic is thick enough).
I mean can the bags of other vacuum sealer brands be used with Rival sealers?
My bf and I are moving across the country (2,600miles) and we are only taking one car and a top carrier for it. I would like to vacuum seal all of our clothes, blankets, towels, etc.
Is there a good way to make my own vacuum seal bags, maybe out of big garbage bags?
Has anyone ever done this, or used the already made ones to get more room in your car?
No the vacuum sealer is better and the bags are heavier.
You don’t really need to go to that length. Keep it in an airtight container and stick it in the freezer.
You’ll use it all up before it goes bad.

i thought of that when we freeze our chickens & are skinned so why not use a cheaper bag or do you have to use those poly bags?
