Basic Packaging Supplies to Keep on Hand
Greetings! I hope you enjoy the article about impulse sealers.
If your company opts to do its own product packaging, there are several packaging supplies that your company will need keep on hand. A few supplies to make sure you have are boxes, filler material, packaging sealer or tape, and labels.
A variety of boxes are necessary, especially if your items will be shipped: First want to decide on what box you would like to use. Boxes come in many shapes, sizes and thickness. You want to find a box that offers enough room that the product is not squished, but not too much room that the product is “swimming” in the box.
Next, you need a filler material to cushion your product inside the box. You want to choose one that is both cost effective, easy to store and does the job of protecting your product. You can have cardboard inserts that hug the product and keep it snug and safe in the box.
You can also use packaging paper, bubble wrap, foam or Fill-air bags. If your product is an odd size, the Fill-bags may be a great choose. They are kept flat and are easy to store. When you are ready to use them, you can choose how much air they are filled with.
To insure that the box stays closed during transport, you’ll need to think about how to seal the box. This can be done with packaging tape. Tape ranges from water proof, double sides, and stretchable.
And don’t forget the packaging labels. You should consider both mailing labels, and specialty labels. Specialty labels are used for both handling instructions and also to keep your company compliant if you’re shipping flammable or hazardous material. Examples of Specialty handling labels are: Fragile glass, This side up, Rush, etc.
