Do The Cheap Ones Work?
Do the cheap vaccume sealer bags at wal-mart work? I hate to take the risk if they don’t work. I don’t want to put money down the drain if they don’t work. If they do work I would love to buy them. These bags are for putting meat in or vegetables in when you want to seprate them and keep them lasting longer. They go with a vacume sealer that I bought. What is the cheap brand that you buy?

Those ziploc things are worthless. I have a Foodsaver and it get quite a workout. Besides being a cook I’m a gardener and an angler. There are always bags of vacuum packed stuff in the freezer. I’m a big fan of this piece of equipment. Ther isn’t much difference in the brands and a smaller one is fine for most homes. The only down side is the cost of the bags, but the different brands of bags work on different sealers so….OOPS, your asking about the generic bags you got at walmart, well like I was saying they work fine, really no difference. Like the difference between generic ibuprofin and the name brand stuff, all the same except the package.

Here’s a review from chowhound.com I always figure that people who take the time to send in a favorable review are most likely to be pretty accurate. This is just one person’s opinion, however, so you can decide for your self. I think it’s worth a try. Couldn’t you find another use for the bags if they won’t work well with your sealer? If they’re cheap enough, just use them as storage bags for foods or other things that don’t need a really tight seal.
Bought a Foodsaver a couple of weeks ago. I then discovered the new Ziploc resealable vacuum. I am returning the Food saver. Not only is the ziploc more cost effective( price of bags) it is definitely more green and works as well. The only downside is boiling things in the bag. I don’t think you can do that in the ziploc. So what you have to use a little muscle to pump out the air. it is way more convenient than using a machine I’m sold!
Best price for bags is at Wal mart. O yes, they have held there seal fine in the freezer. I sealed some cookies in them and they tasted as fresh a week later. I take out a few and then seal them back up. I hope it is a successful product.
